Virgin Rewards | Earning Flying Club Miles – Month Zero

Virgin Atlantic Rewards Plus

Virgin Rewards | Earning Flying Club Miles | Month Zero

After looking which reward cards were available, I finally decided to opt for the Virgin Atlantic Rewards Plus Mastercard and earning Flying Club miles. My Virgin Atlantic Rewards Plus card arrive in 8 days after applying … a little longer that Amex, but it made it in one piece. It’s a nicely designed card which is smooth on the front, as per the above photo and the card number, etc is engraved on the back, just like the Starling Bank debit card or the Curve card. I guess this will be the new way forward.

As I applied on the 29th October, two sign-up bonuses were available. 15,000 Virgin Flying Club miles on my 1st spend on the card and an additional 10,000 miles as and when I spend £3,000 in the 1st 3 months. The £3,000 spend will be helped by my pending 2020 holiday booking which will be with Virgin …. so additional points there.

In addition to the miles, the Virgin Atlantic Rewards card offers either of the following bonuses on a £10,000 spend in 12 months:

  • 2 for 1 voucher valid to 2 years for Virgin Flying Club in economy.
  • An upgrade to Premium when you book in Economy reward flight.

To maximise the miles earning potential, I will be using the card in place of my debit card and paying the card off each month. The Rewards Plus card offers 1.5 miles per £1 spend or 3 miles per £1 spend at Virgin Atlantic or Virgin Holidays.

The downside, there is a £160 annual fee & a 3% foreign exchange fee, however I will use my Virgin Atlantic card through my Curve Metal card, which has 0% foreign exchange fee.

Check out the next instalment, Month One.
